Tsavorite as a saturated green light
A green that arrives as light. Tsavorite is this season’s sit — chrome-green grossular, a garnet willing to be vivid. Emerald holds a deep green and stays inside that green. A saturated green tourmaline holds one green and spends it as weather. Peridot holds a lime, olive tipping toward gold. Tsavorite holds a saturated green and gives the light back bright. You meet the color, and you meet a flash the forest does not spend.

A crystal already the color
A tsavorite from Madagascar is the sit as one stone. A single crystal, chrome green through the body, edges that catch, a face that looks lit before a wheel has touched it. You would name that saturation before you asked which mine. An emerald of the same size would have given a forest you look into, a green that holds. A peridot would have tipped the same outline toward lime. This crystal is already the season’s green, and the green reads as light.
Grossular is the reason the color can be this vivid and still be one gem. Chrome in the garnet, a body that takes light and returns a clean flash. The vivid greens are the sit this season, and tsavorite spends that appetite as a stone that seems to keep its own lamp.
The same green, set in the dark
A crystal from the Merelani Hills keeps the color and sets it against a dark ground. Vivid green on the host, the stone small and already the brightest fact on the plate. You would meet that green before you asked for a carat. A green tourmaline in the same place would have stayed a saturated lantern of another family. This is still grossular. The chrome is the weather. The matrix is only the chair.

The flash does not wait for a pavilion to begin. You can feel the saturation in the rough. A cutter’s reason is that the crystal is already the color the season is wearing: vivid, a green with fire in it, a hue that does not slide into peridot’s lime and does not settle into emerald’s deeper hold.
A clearer body
A second crystal from Merelani, in the Arusha Region, spends the same green as transparency. A cluster you can nearly see through, the color still saturated, the faces already breaking light. You would meet that clarity before you named a facet. Emerald’s green is a green that stays. This one lets the light travel and come back bright. The fire is what the body was willing to do.

A tourmaline would have kept a different mineral and a different temperature. A peridot would have warmed the green toward olive. Tsavorite agrees to a chrome green and remains one garnet — vivid enough to leave the forest, green enough to leave a lime. The Madagascar crystal shows the color alone. The matrix shows the green against dark. This cluster shows the light moving through the stone.
Another ground, the same light

A tsavorite from Mali is the same appetite in another ground. Grossular, a vivid green crystal, the color already decided. You would meet the mineral before you asked for a setting. The hue is already in the rough. A jeweler sets it because the stone is already a saturated green with a clean flash. The crystal is the origin. The light is what the season is wearing.
The mount, when it comes, only agrees to hold a direction the garnet already has. The saturation stays in the tsavorite. A green that has already decided to be emerald is a different sit. A green that has already decided to be tourmaline is a different sit. A lime that has already decided to be peridot is a different sit. This one is a saturated green light.
That is the season sit. Tsavorite as a saturated green light. A Madagascar crystal that wears the chrome. A Merelani stone held in the dark. A clearer body that lets the fire through. A crystal from Mali that is the mineral before the cut — a garnet you wear as a green that is already light.
