Cartier color, from the aquamarine

Color is what jewelry is wearing this season. Not a quiet white field. A sapphire, an aquamarine, a fancy yellow — one hue that can hold a whole look. Season Piece reads Cartier from the stone out. The house has always kept a private palette: sea-blue, jonquil, a brown diamond with a name.

A yellow, then a brown

The Tiger’s Eye is the darker cousin: a cognac diamond, baguette feathers, a spray that would sit in a turban or on a shoulder. Brown as a jewel, not a leftover. You would see the honey before you saw the plume.

On the wrist the same mood turns into a face: lapis, a gold brick bracelet, a sapphire cabochon. Night blue against yellow gold.
